Business Intelligence in the Data Jungle
The trend in business intelligence these days is performance management and digital dashboards. Real time business performance monitoring (zero latency) requires dashboarding tools that can get the 'message out' by graphically articulating the measurment managers need to run their business.
Recently, Data Jungle, a company staffed with business intelligence industry veterans, has released several new products that knock the cover off the EIS ball: Matrix, Annotator and Reporter...
Matrix is an out-of-the-box solution that enables Cognos PowerPlay customers to create multiple, interactive dashboard-like views, with color-coded alerts that can be focused on key business metrics.
With Matrix users get an overview of the status of key indicators at a glance and identify areas of anomalous performance. They can also explore the data in detail and set new views and thresholds at any time.
DataJungle Annotator extends Cognos PowerPlay (the world's leading business intelligence tool), with annotation, alerting, and collaboration capabilities.
With Annotator users can add text and audio comments and create discussion threads attached to specific views created in PowerPlay. These can be saved for personal reference or for sharing with colleagues. Annotator provides a shared repository of corporate knowledge on specific issues that is fully integrated with the business data. Annotator is a key element in delivering Collaborative Business Intelligence capabilities to your performance management deployment.
Reporter is the generic name for applications assembled from DataJungle's library of pre-built reporting components to the specific requirements of customers. Reporting components included such things as intelligent and interactive tables, charts, maps, collaboration capability, alerts and thresholds, multimedia capabilities, etc.
With Reporter virtually any functionality or presentation requirements can be readily accommodated. Reporter applications can extend Cognos business intelligence software or sit directly on relational databases.
We've been using these products for several months now and are very impressed with their versatility and manageability . In many of our business intelligence projects we've seen the need for collaborative technologies that allows the business better understand the underlying data and to support asynchronous problem solving.
We've connected the Matrix products to both COGNOS and Microsoft Analsysis Server data stores and we've been amazed by its ability to quickly convey the meaning of the underlying data. Matrix is delivered to the client in a somewhat thin fashion, it's a Macromedia FLASH application. The user interface is powerful and intuitive; just what you'd expect from a robust interface like FLASH. Matrix is head and shoulders above any other browser based tool we've used.
For more information feel free to contact me. We'd be glad to demonstrate the power and flexibility of Data Jungle.
Does this tool work with all versions of COGNOS? How about Report Net? Thanks in advance.
